We had a plan of creating a breakfast bar during the kitchen reno and we hadn’t gotten around to it…until yesterday! The piece of marble has been staring me in the face under the carport for months now 😕
Thankfully, Stephen happened to mention that figured out in his mind how the frame should be constructed, and with a quick inspiration pic from _rafterhouse_ (which I absolutely adore), we were on our way!
So, frame built! He notched the upright 4x4s so that the 2x4s fit nice and flush, added a furring strip to support it on the wall, and placed the marble top on. (Siliconed)
Then I sanded, and stained dark walnut to match our exposed beams and barn wood range hood.
This space will mostly be used for the kids to have breakfast, lunch, snacks..for quick cleanup. Also it may end up being an ideal location for Anna to escape her sisters to do school work. (Until I reconfigure our schoolroom)
